Therapy for Sensory Issues, Behavioral Challenges, or Developmental Delays
Is your child:
- easily over-stimulated? constantly on the move? challenged by transitions? disorganized by unpredictability?
- over-sensitive or under-sensitive to sensations like noise, light, clothing, touch, or temperature?
- distracted by the constant need to chew, fiddle, touch, etc.?
Does your child:
- seem like movement is a chore?
- have a hard time with coordination and balance?
- move fast without thinking?
- lack awareness of personal space?
Developmental Movement Therapy helps widen your child’s window of tolerance to stimuli thereby improving self-regulation. It provides opportunity for sensory feedback that leads to more organized and coordinated movement as well as increased attention and awareness.
Sessions include a large variety of activities from swinging in a hammock or trapeze to crawling through tunnels and rolling inside a barrel. Spandex tubes and weighted blankets provide calming and organizing input as do crash pads for jumping and burrowing. Quiet “hide-away” spaces can be created and tall towers can be knocked over. Rhythmic ball bouncing, jumping rope, climbing, rolling, pushing and pulling – a session will offer your child a world of movement and sensory activities.
